Half term
There is no homework assigned over half term so we hope you all enjoy a rest, some time in the outdoors and maybe visiting some of the activities happening in the area.
Remember, Lexia and Mathletics are always available for children to dip in to at home.
You may also want to take a look at the York Art Gallery website, in preparation for our trip on Tuesday 01 November. Also on an art theme, if you visit the city centre, you may want to take part in the Leeds Welcome Art trail.
Have a great half term.

Parents’ evening
Thank you to all parents who attended parents’ evening this week. It was great to discuss how your child has been settling into Year 2 and all about their learning so far.
Please let us know (Mrs Taylor – Monday and Tuesday, or Mr Wilks – Wednesday, Thursday and Friday) if you have any other queries or concerns.
Thank you!
Thank you to all family and friends who came to watch our assembly this afternoon.
Despite our prop malfunction, we hope you enjoyed the arty assembly and finding out about some of our learning so far in Year 2.
There were a few nerves beforehand but we were very proud of all the children who spoke or acted very confidently in front of the big audience.
Well done, Year 2!
Bonfire Celebrations themed menu
Catering Agency, our school meal provider, will be running a special themed menu on Wednesday 02 November: Bonfire Celebrations. Please contact the office if your child would like a school dinner on this day.
School Saving Club
Does your child have a School Saving Club account in association with Leeds Credit Union?
If so, our next paying in date is this Thursday 13 October 3.15-3.45pm. If you can’t make this date, then the next one will be on Thursday 08 December at 3.15-3.45pm.
Children must be accompanied to the sessions.
If you can’t attend the date, you can bring money to the office in a sealed envelope marked School Saving Club for the attention of Miss Hale.
School Saving Club accounts can still be opened. Please ask at the office for an application form.
Children who are in Year 3 will have their account credited by Leeds City Council with £10 once opened.
Science in Year 2
In a science lesson last week, we were learning about classification. Children had to classify leaves in different ways.
Creative Reading Homeworks
Year 2 are a class of book lovers. Here are some of our favourite reading homeworks from last week’s review.
Class assembly 12 October
We are enjoying our new big topic based on the Katie and… stories, with lots of English, Maths, Science, History and of course Art learning so far.
Ask your child to tell you about the Katie books we have read so far.
- Which is their favourite? Why?
- Who were the characters?
- What were the main events?
- What changes would they have made to the story?
We look forward to sharing the children’s learning at our class assembly this Wednesday. It’s at 2:40pm and we hope to see you then.
