Transition afternoon

Posted on Tuesday 10 July 2018 by Mr Roundtree

This week, Year 5 became Year 6 in their transition afternoon with Miss Rushbrooke.

They had a circle time allowing them to share any things they’re looking forward to or anything they are worried about and then had the opportunity to ask lots of questions.

They then worked on being a team by completing some interesting challenges. Turns out you can create a ‘human chair’ whether you’re working with people you get on with or with people you don’t usually spend your time with.

Then, we were challenged to create the tallest tower of cups without actually touching them. This required good communication skills and a lot of resilience.

Finally, we chose some class prizes for next year and it was really good to be able to choose them ourselves.

Countdown to Year 6 begins.

Brownlee Centre

Posted on Thursday 05 July 2018 by Mrs Taylor

Earlier this week, a group of upper Key Stage 2 children had the opportunity to attend the schools Tour de Yorkshire celebration event at the Brownlee Centre.

The structured coaching session involved different cycling skills activities and was a great chance for the pupils to test out the cycle circuit.

As a result of the positive feedback from the children, we hope to participate in future events at the circuit.

The next pop-up ride at the centre is this weekend, Sunday 08 July 12:00pm – register to take part using the Let’s Ride website.
