Week 14: 15 July 2020: Home learning
Maths – LO: translation
Today’s topic task is a little bit different – the first part of a three day series of Dragon’s Den!
There are several stages that you need to go through covering a wide range of subjects and skills.
The first stage is Design and Technology.
You need to design a product. It can be anything – hover boots, a chair, jewellery, headphones… whatever you like! There are lots of sheets online that can help you structure this design process if you need one. Think about the following questions:
- What is your product for?
- Does it solve a problem?
- Who is it aimed at?
- What are its features?
- What is it made of?
- What size is it?
Week 14: 15 July 2020: Home learning
Hi Year One!
We’ve reached the mid point in the week! So impressed that you’re continuing to work hard right until the end.
Here are your tasks for today:
Writing
As you know, Miss Needham is going to be joining our class next year. As she doesn’t know many of you that well, I would like you to write her a letter (or email) telling her facts about yourself.
You can take a picture of it, sent it to me and I can print it off for her. Or you can post it to school.
Maths
Science
Have a go at this really cool Science lesson about forces.
I love it because it links science and one of my favourite sports.
Week 14: 14 July 2020: Home learning
Drama – LO: responding to a stimulus
Use this BBC Bitesize lesson to learn the basics of using stimuli to develop ideas.
How could you link this learning to last week’s learning? What genre could your play be?
You need to complete both activities one and two. It’d be awesome if you filmed your efforts and send them to me on an email.
Week 14: 14 July 2020: Home learning
Maths – LO: nets of 3D shapes
Today, use this website to learn about/recap nets of 3D shapes.
You need to read the website, watch the video, complete the three interactive activities and then complete the worksheet at the bottom. Once you’ve finished, mark your own answers by clicking the link underneath.
Email me to let me know how you got on!
Challenge
Make a net for a 3D shape out of paper. Can you fold, cut and stick carefully so that it makes a successful 3D shape?
Send in your photos!

Week 14: 14.07.20: Home learning
Hello Year 2 children and their families. It is my last home learning post for you all today so I wanted to say thank you to your adults for all your support as you have taken over our role for the last fourteen weeks! We have missed the class very much and we are sorry the year has come to an end before we could all be back at school together.
We hope you have a safe and relaxing summer holiday and we shall see you all when you return to school as the new Year 3 class. We know Mr Wain will have a great year with such a fantastic class.
So, here we go with the learning for you for today.
Lesson 1 science/reading

Well, they have been well cared for at home and the time has come to harvest the potatoes.
1.Read this text to see how the potatoes were harvested.
2.Watch this video to show how the potato farmer harvests their potatoes and gets them ready for the supermarket.
3.Read and complete this quiz based on the video. Here are the answers.
Lesson 2 maths
First of all, spend 10/15 minutes on Times Table Rock Stars.
Today, try a suduku challenge to test your problem solving and reasoning skills. Start by completing the 4×4 grid. Then, try the 6×6 grid.
Lesson 3 PE
This skipping activity is led by someone the children will recognise. Unfortunately, our Year 2 Skipping School Festival couldn’t take place this term but click here to watch the video and join in if you have a skipping rope at home.
If you don’t have access to a skipping rope at home, choose five of the ThisisPE challenges.
