Mr Owen is a member of our Senior Leadership Team and a Specialist Leader of Education.
Q. Where do you come from?
A. I was born in Chester, but moved to Durham when I was 3. I left Durham to go to university at Warwick, then lived for a while in Plymouth and Newcastle. I’ve lived all over the place really!
Q. What is your favourite subject?
A. I love maths because I find it really satisfying to solve a problem or spot a pattern. I like looking for maths around us in every day life, too. There’s lots if you look hard – shapes, numbers, symmetry, patterns and calculations.
Q. What is your favourite food?
A. I can’t get enough Japanese food – it’s delicious! If I could have sushi, noodles and miso soup every day I’d be very happy.
Q. What is your favourite animal?
A. Cats. It’s not a very exotic choice, but I think they’re fun, loving and intelligent. Unfortunately, I’m allergic to them!
Q. What is your favourite sport?
A. My favourite sport to watch is rugby but my favourite sport to play is judo. I tend to like contact sports best, possibly because I’m a very competitive person.
Q. Why did you want to become a teacher?
A. Loads of reasons! I like learning new things and helping others learn, too. Children are really enthusiastic and so are really fun to be around. Also, you’re never bored as a teacher because no two minutes are the same.
